Firstly, let me welcome you to Saints Peter & Paul’s School, Bulimba. The school opened in January, 1916. The first staff members were Mother Mary Bernard (Superior), Sr Mary Catherine, who was in charge of the primary school, class teachers Sr Mary Ignatius, Sr Mary Patrick Frances, infant school teacher Sr Mary Gabriel and music teacher Sr Mary Adrian. By the end of 1916, the school enrolment was 200 students.
At the present time, the demand for enrolment has increased as the Bulimba and surrounding areas continue to attract younger families back to these established areas. At present our enrolment is 650 students with our classes catering for the primary years from Prep to Year 6. There are currently 25 classes, numerous school officers (teacher aides) and specialist support staff.
Saints Peter & Paul’s School has significantly changed in the last few years with new buildings and facilities being provided for the students. These projects are part of a long-term strategy to meet enrolment demand and to continue to develop modern first-class educational facilities to meet all the challenges that the 21st century will bring.
Today, Saints Peter & Paul’s School, in strong partnership with the Parish Priest and parish community, is recognised for proudly offering a quality inclusive Catholic Education. As the school has grown and changed it has continued to build on the traditions established by the Good Samaritan Sisters. Their spirit of compassion and justice flows through the total school community and is further strengthened by the traditions established by the parents, staff and children over the past ninety three years, living the school motto of “Learning Together For Life”.
This website attempts to capture some of the beliefs and practices of the school, which have their origins within the school's story. While it covers key areas, it does not attempt to cover all possibilities. Rather it is meant as a guide to allow you, to gain a sense of what Saints Peter & Paul’s School is about.
Building on this educational story - spanning over ninety years and being the educational leader of this fine school is both a privilege and a challenge. I look forward to the opportunity to be part of the story of Saints Peter & Paul’s School and to contribute to the school's ongoing development in partnership with each member of the school community.
